BIAS was formed in1995. The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act came into effect 10 years later, giving people being treated access to independent advocacy.
We are funded by Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders to provide specialist advocacy to people with mental health related issues, and to work with people with learning disabilities.
We continue to develop innovative projects aimed at supporting as many vulnerable and disempowered people in our community as possible.
