Borders Independent Advocacy Service

BIAS is an independent advocacy organisation working throughout the Scottish Borders area. We provide a range of advocacy services free of charge for a wide variety of people. If you feel we might be able to help, please contact us.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

Do you sometimes find it difficult to understand complex rules or hard to get professionals to see your point of view?

You may feel you are not getting the help you need or you may have concerns that the services you are being offered are not good enough.

As an Advocacy service, we will:

  • Listen to you and ensure that other people listen to you
  • Help you to access the information you need so you can make an informed decision on what you want to do
  • Support you to attend or take part in important meetings and to have your say in decisions affecting you.
  • Try to safeguard your rights
  • Stand alongside you to help you express your views and wishes

We can help you raise concerns, make a complaint or appeal if you feel you are not getting all the help you need.

We are not a substitute for the help you may get from Social Workers, Doctors, Solicitors, Support Workers etc but we might be able to make it easier for you to get the help you want.

The service is free, confidential and open to everyone in the Scottish Borders region.
